Cifro and Droplet: Adventure in the Wall That Holds the Whole World Together - Peťko rozprávkár

The story takes place in a flourishing park where a new, solid wall made of bright bricks is growing. The focus is on two restless little bricks, Cifro with a cheerful number five and Kvapka with a dimple shaped like a raindrop. Both bricks, bored by the perfect straight line, decide to switch places, thereby disrupting the traditional arrangement of the wall. Their playful experiment causes the wall to start swaying dangerously, which frightens not only them but also a little bird that lands on top. From the depths of the wall, the wise brick Master Murivo intervenes, explaining to them the importance of proper brick arrangement. The story is built on themes of cooperation, trust, and the significance of each component in a collective.

In the park, where flowers were fragrant and bees were buzzing, a new, beautiful wall was growing tall. The sun smiled upon it and its bricks glowed with a cheerful orange-red color. In the topmost row, right in the middle, two restless bricks lay side by side. One was called Cipher, because he had a small mark on his side that resembled a cheerful number five. The other was Droplet, because she was adorned with a tiny dimple in the shape of a raindrop.

The builders had just left for lunch and silence fell everywhere.

"How boring," Cipher mumbled and looked at his neighbors, who stood in a perfectly straight line. "We're standing here like soldiers. I wish everyone would notice me!"

Droplet giggled. "And how do you plan to do that? Start waving?"

Cipher wiggled his brick shoulders. He looked down at the rows below him and noticed something interesting. The bricks weren't stacked exactly one above another. They were offset, like steps. Each brick above sat on two bricks below it.

"Aha!" exclaimed Cipher and got an idea. "Look, Droplet! Down there it's much more interesting. What if we switched places? Just for fun! We'll be different from the others."

Droplet liked the idea. "Do you think we can manage it?" she asked with sparkles in her eyes.

"Of course!" Cipher encouraged her. "We'll wiggle a little, shift around, and that's it!"

And so they set to it. They carefully squirmed and shifted until with a great "Thud!" they managed to switch places. Now Cipher sat where Droplet had been before, and Droplet in Cipher's place. Both smiled contentedly. They had disrupted the perfect row and now stood directly above the gap between two bricks below them.

"See? And nothing happened," said Cipher proudly.

Just then, however, a gentle breeze blew. The entire wall swayed lightly.

"Whoa, what was that?" Droplet was surprised and felt a little dizzy.

Right then a small sparrow flew over and perched on top of the wall, not far from them. The wall shook much more.

"Cipher, I'm scared!" cried Droplet. "I feel like a loose tooth! What if we fall?"

Suddenly from the depths of the wall came a deep, rumbling voice that sounded like old stone.

"Who up there has disrupted our firm bond?"

Cipher and Droplet froze. They looked down and saw that an old, wise brick from the very bottom of the wall was speaking to them. She was called Master Masonry.

"That... that was us," Cipher admitted quietly.

"We just wanted to play a little and switch places," added Droplet with fear in her voice.

Master Masonry sighed. "My children, a wall is not a playground. Each of us here has our precise place. And it's not just for nothing."

"But why?" asked Cipher curiously. "It's just a pattern."

"That's not just a pattern, that's our strength," Master Brick explained patiently. "Imagine standing on one leg. It's hard to keep your balance, isn't it? But when you stand on both legs, you're as steady as a tree. Every properly placed brick stands on two 'legs' – that is, on two bricks beneath it. It covers the gap between them and binds them together."

Droplet and Zero listened with their mouths agape.

"By being connected this way," Master Brick continued, "we distribute all the weight. When a little bird perches on me, or when the wind leans against me, I don't bear that force alone. I share it with my neighbors beside me. And they pass it along further, until all the weight is safely distributed throughout the entire wall. We're like one big, strong team."

Master Brick paused for a moment. "But you two have shifted, and now each of you stands over just one joint. All your weight is pressing on one weak spot. That's why the whole wall is swaying."

Zero felt ashamed. "We didn't know that. We thought being different was better."

"Being part of something big and strong is much better," the old master smiled. "Each of us is important. Even the tiniest little brick helps hold the whole house together."

Droplet and Zero looked at each other and nodded. They already knew what they had to do. With a bit of effort and mutual help, they twisted and shifted again. With a quiet "pop" they settled back into their original places.

At that moment, something wonderful happened. The entire wall stopped trembling. It stood firm and proud as before. The feeling of strength and certainty returned to it.

The sparrow at the top chirped merrily, as if wanting to thank them.

"You were right, Master Brick," Zero said with respect. "Being part of a strong wall is the best feeling!"

"And we're still neighbors!" Droplet added cheerfully, nudging Zero.

Both felt proud. Not because they were different, but because they were exactly where they belonged, helping to hold the entire wall firmly together.

And so the little bricks learned that everyone, even the smallest piece, has their very important place in a solid wall. And perhaps, when you next see a brick wall, you'll notice how wisely they are arranged to hold together like the best of friends.
